International reggae-soul act headlines expanded Blues on Broadbeach program

Blues on Broadbeach (16-19 May) just got bigger, revealing yet another reason for music fans to make the pilgrimage to the festival on the Gold Coast in 2024.

On Sunday 19 May, Kurrawa Park will play host to a special lineup exclusive to ticket holders, featuring New Zealand genre-bending powerhouse Fat Freddy’s Drop with their only Australian show this year, local music innovators Tijuana Cartel, and electric creatives BOOMCHILD.

The Kurrawa Park Sunday Ticket will be on sale from 9AM AEST Wednesday 28 February for $119 + booking fee and $189 + booking fee for VIP tickets.

Celebrating all things, rhythm, soul, reggae and everything in between, you won’t want to miss this cocktail of talent! Add to that the regular stacked four-day Blues on Broadbeach program and you have an unforgettable festival experience.

This year’s non-ticketed Blues on Broadbeach program is already set to make the Gold Coast rock with headline acts including blues-rock legend Melissa Etheridge (USA), Samantha Fish & Jesse Dayton (USA), Ana Popovic (USA), revered bluesman Eric Bibb (USA), and returning favourite Lloyd Spiegel. With an incredible lineup of powerhouse performers, and plenty more artists still to be announced, the new Kurrawa Park Sunday Ticket will only add more on the musical scale to an already massive Sunday program at Broadbeach.

Festival Director, Mark Duckworth says the Blues on Broadbeach team are always looking for ways to elevate the festival experience and grow their fan base.

“Blues on Broadbeach continues to build a loyal tribe of fans who make the trek across the country and from overseas every year to enjoy four epic days of live music on the Gold Coast,” said Mark.

“We wanted to enhance the festival experience for those fans, and attract new audiences as well, by offering a special ticketed experience featuring more incredible acts, this year we are stoked to showcase one of the world’s best reggae and soul live acts New Zealand’s Fat Freddy’s Drop.

“The Kurrawa Park Sunday Ticket will mean Blues on Broadbeach can continue to grow bringing more international acts to the Gold Coast for our audiences to experience and enjoy.”

Aotearoa New Zealand’s seven-piece electronic-reggae-soul act Fat Freddy’s Drop are Kurrawa Park’s inaugural headliners. Globally regarded as one of the world’s finest live acts, their sound is a euphoric blend of dub, reggae, soul, jazz, techno, and rhythm & blues.

“After a quiet summer deep in the studio working on a new album, we’re very excited to get out, have a stretch and a play, and connect with our Gold Coast fans. This will be a blast before getting into the final stages of finishing our album. See you at the legendary Blues on Broadbeach!” – Fat Freddy’s Drop.

Blues on Broadbeach is the only Australian show this year for Fat Freddy’s Drop.

Adding to the Kurrawa Park Sunday Ticket offering is Gold Coast’s own Tijuana Cartel. The band have been called one of Australia’s most exciting live acts, taking a psychedelic, atmospheric approach to songwriting and folding in worldly sonic splashes reminiscent of the Middle East, Spain and India.

Sydney collective BOOMCHILD brings together RnB, electronic, hip hop, soul and funk leaning into their individuality to create something truly unique and refreshing.
