The city will welcome the World Ultimate Championships (WUC) to the Gold Coast from 31 August to 7 September 2024.
The WUC is not just a sporting event; it’s a celebration of athleticism, camaraderie, and the global Ultimate community. Held every four years at diverse international venues, WUC is the pinnacle of competitive Ultimate, attracting top athletes and passionate fans from around the world. This will be the first time that the World Championships are to be run in the Southern Hemisphere and should be the largest Ultimate event ever held in Australia
WUC 2024 will be hosted using the sports fields at Runaway Bay sports precinct and at Alabaster Drive Sports complex. The tournament hosts hope to attract up to 100 Ultimate teams involving up to 2000 participants from 40 nations, playing in Open, Women’s and Mixed Divisions.
The Runaway Bay Sports Precinct will be the central competition hub and feature up to 14 fields including the main showcase field with lights, while Alabaster Drive Sports Fields will feature 16 fields.
