In a Gold Coast first, an International Boxing Federation (IBF) World Cruiserweight Title fight, ‘PalmerBet Presents: IBF Cruiserweight Word Title’ will take place in 2022!

The world title fight will see Gold Coast-based Jai Opetaia take on the current Cruiserweight world title holder, Latvian Mairis Briedis at premier event venue, the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre on Saturday 2 July.

It will be the first world title fight to be held in Australia is almost five years and is expected to draw a massive global audience.

Opetaia already has an impressive resumé including light heavy junior World Title (2011) and youngest boxer in Australian boxing history to qualify for the Olympic games (2012). With a perfect professional boxing record of 21 wins from 21 fights, Opetaia now has the chance to become the first Australian to win a world title on Australian soil since Jeff Horn’s 2017 upset victory against Manny Pacquiao.
