Festival of Touch 2022

The Festival of Touch is returning to the Gold Coast from 25 November – 4 December incorporating three competitions and two conferences hosted by Queensland Touch Football.

25-27 November – the Queensland State Cup Touch Football Carnival is an annual three day Touch Football tournament that brings more than 2000 participants and 3000 spectators from across Queensland, interstate and internationally. Held at the Coomera Sports Park, the tournament remains a must do on the touch enthusiasts’ calendar and provides a fantastic opportunity to have a weekend away with family and friends. This event is the premier affiliate competition in Queensland for ages 15-60+ when players and referees alike, come together and represent their local Affiliate in a fun, enjoyable and unforgettable experience. The QLD State Cup consists of round robin games event catering for all abilities, often attracting social players as well as some of Queensland’s and the Nation’s most elite and competitive touch football players.

28 November – the Queensland Touch Football Affiliate Conference has been created to unite and inspire touch football affiliates across Queensland. The conference provides professional development opportunities, including the ability to share knowledge and ideas with other administrators with the aim of growing the sport of touch football in Queensland.

28 November – the Queensland Touch Football Sport Performance Conference aims to challenge the current thinking of coaches, teachers and administrators in Queensland, in a way that will educate and develop innovative thinking. The conference was first held in 2020 and has hosted more than 120 attendees from across Queensland each year. With guest speakers ranging from Brook Hanson and Corey Parker to touch football legends such as Peter Bell, the Sport Performance Conference is a must do on the Touch Football Coaching calendar.

1 December – the South East Queensland Schools Beach Gala Day is open to all school teams from grades 5 and above and will be a fun-filled celebration in the heartland of Touch Football here on the Gold Coast. Held at North Kirra Beach, this will not be a normal day of touch football. The day will include a mixture of fast, speedy, four (4) on four (4) games as well as skill challenges and activations in between games.

3-4 December – the Queensland All Nations Tournament is the final component of the Festival of Touch. Held at Coomera Sports Park, the tournament all0ws participants to represent their heritage and their nation at a fun, social and non-affiliated touch football tournament that celebrates our many and diverse cultures that make up Australia. South Queensland & Border Districts Touch Association in conjunction with Queensland Touch Football, will deliver an event that allows participants to experience multiple cultures through food, dance and connection.
