The Gold Coast is set to be the home of one of the largest national school sporting competitions in 2023 with Basketball Australia’s weeklong Australian Basketball School Championships (ASC) returning at the end of the year.
The tournament is the pinnacle event for school basketball in Australia and will see secondary schools from around Australia travel and compete in a weeklong event at the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre, Carrara Indoor Sports Stadium and Coomera Indoor Sports Centre from 26 November – 1 December 2023.
With 20 female and male divisions across the competition, this event has become an important pathway for basketball talent and the best young Australian basketballers will be on display as they compete for their school and state.
The championships have a long and impressive alumnus of players who have gone on to represent their country including Australian Boomers Dante Exum and Patty Mills, Australian Opals Lauren Jackson AO and Tessa Lavey, as well as rising stars such as Josh Giddey and Jazmin Shelley.
