Australian Gateball Championship

The Gold Coast is getting set to welcome the Australian Gateball Championships.

Held bi-annually, the Australian Gateball Championships will see at least 15 teams come together to compete for the acclaimed title.

Held from 1-3 April at the Gold Coast Performance Centre, a premier sporting facility located in Runaway Bay on the northern Gold Coast, the Championship program will include the inaugural Gateball Doubles Competition on the Friday prior to the Opening Ceremony, followed by the Gateball Teams Championships on the following days.

Gateball is a unique, mallet team sport inspired by croquet. It is a fast-paced, non-contact, highly strategic team game which can be played by anyone regardless of age, gender or sporting abilities. Teams strategically work together using various techniques, including touching, sliding and sparking over an intense 30 minute game. Teamwork is very much regarded as the winning key! The sport is currently emerging in Australia, however worldwide there are already over 10 million people playing the strategic ball-game.
