Queensland’s largest outdoor sculpture exhibition, SWELL Sculpture Festival is back for its 21st year this September 2023!
The award-winning SWELL Sculpture Festival is Queensland’s premier outdoor sculpture exhibition set along Currumbin Beach taking place from 8-17 September, the free 10-day festival will feature spectacular large-scale sculptures, installations, digital artworks and performance art from local, interstate and international artists.
With over 75 large-scale sculptures from collectively created by over 190 artists, the Gold Coast’s Currumbin Beach will be transformed into a free and all-inclusive outdoor sculpture park. Connecting people, art and place, SWELL will transform public spaces spread along the Gold Coast into family-friendly outdoor sculpture galleries, located in Currumbin Beach and across various Gold Coast locations.
Stay a little longer and discover a range of unique experiences; guided twilight walks through the artworks, live music, comedy, masterclasses, artist talks next to the sculptures and artist-led workshops. SWELL Sculpture Festival inspires and captures the hearts and minds of all who visit.
Home to the Main Exhibition, Currumbin Beach and Esplanade runs just over one kilometre almost seamlessly integrating together, serving as a one-of-a-kind event destination for a range of significant community and cultural events.
Regularly voted Queensland’s cleanest beach, this pristine location offers crystal clear water, ample space and breathtaking views from Surfers Paradise to Coolangatta. It’s not hard to understand why Currumbin Beach is a common destination for a diverse range of events. Currumbin Beach also forms part of the World Surfing Reserve with a break that tends to experience larger waves from a wider directional range than the neighbouring southern beach breaks due to the reduced sheltering effects of Greenmount and Snapper Rocks.
SWELL Sculpture Festival is proudly supported by Major Events Gold Coast.
