Beyond the Sand Arts Festival

Beyond the Sand Arts Festival (formerly known as Sand Safari Arts Festival) will transform Surfers Paradise into a beachfront gallery of colour, movement and music across nine spectacular days and nights from the 13 – 21 March 2021.

Find yourself in the midst of an entire environment as you wander throughout the festival, completely surrounded by art. The free multi-medium arts festival will showcase large‐scale, bold works from gallery to the beach, highlighting an incredible calibre of national and international artists. From contemporary to abstract one of a kind and even feature installations and entertainment, this festival creates a diverse showcase of art and culture across a variety of mediums.

The reimagined festival will host the world premiere of internationally renowned Australian artist, Amanda Parer, as she unveils her biggest art installation ‘Lost’, a never before seen larger-than-life artwork featuring rare botanicals that will be scattered throughout Surfers Paradise, transforming the beachfront into a vibrant floral inspired wonderland.

What’s more, the 2021 event will be circus-themed offering entertainment for the entire family. Featuring the annual Australian Sand Sculpting Championships, up-and-coming artists, as well as daily circus performances, roving entertainment, sand art activities and sculpting workshops, attendees will be able to ‘step right up’ and learn new skills from performers and artists.

"I’m really looking forward to taking part in the Beyond the Sand festival in 2021 for the 10th anniversary. The Australian art scene is often overlooked, so to be contributing to such a vibrant festival at the iconic Surfers Paradise beach, is an honour."
