Cooly Rocks On

Australia’s largest rock ‘n’ roll and nostalgia festival, Cooly Rocks On, announces rockin’ line up.

Cooly Rocks On has this morning announced its 2021 line up, and it’s guaranteed to have attendees shake, rattle and roll to the country’s top rockabilly, swing and rock ‘n’ roll artists and bands.

Uniting nostalgia enthusiasts, the annual event will feature, Pat Cappoci, BOOM! BOOM! DELUXE, Lucky Seven and many more who will have crowds grooving to the sounds of the 50s, 60s and 70s across five action-packed days and nights.

Following the festival’s merge with VIVA Surfers Paradise, festival organisers are bringing beloved Elvis tribute artists Brody Finlay, Jack Gatto, Che Orton and Nic King, along with their Blue Suede Shoes to blow the roof off the Cooly Rocks On stage.

Major Events Gold Coast’s, Festival Director, Mark Duckworth, said the calibre of artists who have joined this year’s line-up will see fans flocking to live performances over the event.

We have curated a range of stellar rockabilly, swing and rock ‘n’ roll musicians from across Australia as we prepare for one of our best festivals to date.

2020 was a tough year for music, so it is great to be able to bring back this festival with such a rockin’ line-up and support musicians. The 2021 festival will see locals and tourists alike return to the Coolangatta beachfront for the ultimate celebration of nostalgia as they indulge in the sounds of yesteryear while enjoying much-loved activations and events such as the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest and Shannons Show ‘N’ Shine.

While artists from as far as South Australia and even New Zealand travel to the festival, local crowd favourites Ella Fontaine & The SugarShakers and The Detonators will be playing to their adoring home crowds as they join the Cooly Rocks On line-up.

One of the Gold Coast’s first major music events occurring this year, visitors will continue to converge on the Southern Gold Coast as the celebrated Cooly Rocks On event continues to boost the local economy and assist local tourism providers in fast-tracking their recovery.

Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate said that the announcement of such a stellar program will only welcome more fans to the iconic festival this June.

Diversifying our events calendar is critical as we emerge from the challenges of Covid so I’m delighted to see this iconic event has reinvented itself to appeal to an even wider audience.

I encourage all Gold Coasters, and our valued visitors, to get on down to Cooly and share in the music, sights and surrounds that make Cooly Rocks On such a brilliant weekend.’

Cooly Rocks On transforms Coolangatta into a celebration of the cars, music, memories and moments of the 50s, 60s and 70s in a colourful explosion of sound and culture, featuring events including the Harvest Moon Swing Ball, Miss Rockabilly, Shannons Show ‘N’ Shine and the new addition of the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest.

Continuing to support the local tourism community, Cooly Rocks On looks to drive overnight visitation from the 120,000 visitors, boosting the local Gold Coast economy.

The free festival will be in full swing from the 9th to the 13th of June, welcoming enthusiasts and locals alike to catch a glimpse into the past and indulge in live entertainment, classic cars and vintage outfits.
